When the wedding planner, plans her wedding…
As a wedding planner, the warm weather season is always the busiest time for me. When Jeremy and I got engaged, I knew that his dream wedding on the beach would be difficult on the North Fork so we started to plan our destination wedding.
We fell in love with Villa Montana in Puerto Rico. It is a gorgeous resort with an incredible restaurant, decorated perfectly for a rustic, tropical wedding on the beach. Invitations went out, plane tickets were booked, all the details were decided & one payment left to make when Hurricane Maria hit the island…
We were heartbroken, not only for us but, for all the wonderful people we met while visiting/planning and our incredible Photographer/Videographer team Jillian and Elliot Anderson. The biggest question was, now what? We only had 6 weeks until our wedding day. Luckily I have some connections in the area!
There were only a handful of venues I knew we would both like and only one was available, my top choice. The Halyard at the Sound View in Greenport NY. Only problem was, we had to move the date up a week, leaving us only 5 weeks to re-plan and re-invite all our guests. 70 guests were traveling to PR to celebrate, now 130, let the games begin!
Everything had to change in style because the halyard is neither rustic or tropical. Contemporary Nautical is what we focused on. All hands on deck… Literally
We couldn’t have done this without the complete support from our family and friends. We had musicians, artists, floral designers, Dj’s, Bakers and even the Police, pulling for us to have our dream wedding here on the North Fork & in record time.
